This seashell pendant is so pretty that all of grandmas girls want to make one! They are such a wonderful keepsake of sun filled days at the beach together. I'll bet that all of your grandmas girls will want to have them,, too!
To make this pendant we need a seashell,
some felt to glue it on to,
glue,
seed beads, size 11 is good to start with with older girls, with younger girls size 8 is better
for the second row you may want a size smaller of seed beads, but it isnt necessary
needle that can go through the beads, and thread
a necklace to wear it on!

We start by gluing the seashell onto a piece of felt that is about 1/2 inch larger than the seashell all around. Then we begin beading!
We start at the back of the felt, so that the knot gets lost there. We bring our needle up to the side with the seashell, and string the needle and thread with three seed beads.
We lie them flat against the seashell, and bring our needle at that spot to the back of the felt. We come up again to the right side in between the beads, push our needle through the last two beads, and add three beads to the needle.
We lie the beads next to our seashell, and push the needle to the back at that spot. We continue as before, going through the last two beads, all around the seashell.
When we finish going around the entire shell, we run thread through every bead again all around the shell and pull tightly. This sets the beads in place neatly. In the felt behind the seashell, we sew three stitches in one place to hold the thread tight.
We bead another row of beads just like these a bit closer to our seashell. These will end up lying on top of the first row when we are finished.
We decide where we want the top of the pendant to be and pull a threaded needle through the felt there, Then we bead 12 or 14 beads on the thread, enough to make a loop for the pendant to hang from and we sew down the thread in back.
We put some glue on our felt behind the seashell, all the way to the edge of the shell. .. Using a toothpick, we spread the glue around . Keeping the glued side up, we let the glue dry. This is the hardest part!

When the glue has dried, we carefully cut away the extra felt from around the shell, being very careful not to cut too close to the shell and cut our threads!
And here we are!
Enjoy making your own seashell pendant with your own grandmas girl-actually,
maybe you can enjoy a day at the beach together first.......
